Here's a topic not for people with limited budgets.

What's the best source for wine in Manila?

The only reason I ask this is because one of them is a diehard Mac user.

I might add that Le Sommelier does not run a regular store being direct suppliers to restaurants and key individuals. They have a very good selection of French Regional Wines (no Bordeaux or Burgundy).

We used to bring in our own wine when I joined Cebu's Wine and Cheese club. one of our member was an importer. Last time he brought some nice spanish reds.

Spain has excellent Reds! Whites, well lt's not talk about that.

I count over 50 wine distributors in town. The notable ones are Bacchus, Winedirect (Wine Depot), Happy Living, le Sommelier, Zen Asia, Premier Wines, WWFW (Terry's Selection) at marami pang iba.

I go to Bacchus for mid to high-end wines. They're the only ones I know who ship (in reefers) and store (in temp and humidity controlled rooms) properly.

For well priced (honestly priced at that), good quality wines (especially if on a budget), there's no other place to go than Wine Depot.

Rustans (or any supermarket for that matter) is the last place I'd buy wine from. I'd rather buy strawberry wine from a Baguio market then buy from a convenience store or grocery.

You go through life thinking you've got it figured out then someone comes along and throws a curve-ball into you affairs.

Now that I've successfully show what an idiot I am for not mentioning Bacchus at all, not having had the pleasure of visiting that apparent haven of vinology, I shall promptly take myself away there and examine their offerings.

Any suggestions on what to acquire? (bearing in mind the budget concious nature of this poster)

last year a friend introduced Galileo Enoteca along Calbayog, off Samat St. in Mandaluyong, where I felt like I was in someone's Italian wine cellar while dining on simple but great pasta and fantastic cheese. Loved the free taste of absinthe and limoncello...
