I'm not sure if they're locally available. Maybe the specialty Audio/Visual shops carry them. Like Listening in Style or Sights and Sounds in Shang

I used to have a lot of those adapters, I just gotta rummage through my junk.

Anyway, I've seen cables in True Value that have the mini optical in one end (round), and the Toslink (square) in the other.

when using this cable does it make the sound surround or it will just be the same quality as 2.1?

slight ot: it's not the cable or the interconnect that makes surround sound possible. It's the speakers (at least a 5.1) and the content or material. Some 2.1 can mimic surround sound through virtualization, but it's not the same quality.

True, your system becoming surround sound is not in the cable. It starts with the source (both the media file and the player) then the surround sound signal it will output should be processed by a surround sound capable receiver, which should then be sent to 5 speakers, at least.

At best, the toslink cable will disable the onboard DAC of your source and allow the DAC of your receiver to handle the processing of the digital signal. If your source is a computer, this is actually a good thing, since onboard DACs of computers are crappy, even macs.
