hi, i don't think you can find it in the philippines. i've bought mine via amazon way back 2005. the closest you can purchase i think is in singapore or hong kong. check the amazon website if you can purchase a unit and send it to your philippine address. or go through alternative route like johnny cargo or relatives in US.

i haven't seen it locally. i bought mine, the first model, from best buy in the u.s. and it is still working.

aside from the bandwidth requirements, you'd also have to make sure that the set-top box or tuner here can respond to the slingbox remote.

Pike - as they all said - the Slingbox isn't available in the Philippines, but you can purchase one and have it sent there. I have a bunch of friends who are able to watch Philippine TV via Sling. The only catch is that, DVRs aren't popular yet, so you'd have to watch the shows "realtime"

Anyone has successfully connected their slingbox to their sky asble digibox? I'm thinking of buying a slingbox in hk since i will be mostly overseas due to business trips. I dont want to miss any nba games and especially watching the local news.

^my set-up is US-PH, so i can't answer your question. regardless, you should probably speedtest your bandwidth first and see what your upstream throughput is. there's little point in compatibility if you can't sufficiently stream video through your connection.

my slingbox (original model) has served me for five years, i think. too bad my free playboy channel was recently *stripped*.

Wow - I had no idea that Slingbox worked in the Philippines. Do you have to pay a monthly subscription fee like TiVo?

nope. slingbox is a device purchase. the only subscription needed on the *transmission end* is cable tv and broadband internet. on the receive-side, you need a broadband internet service, capable of 700kbps or better.
