After I disconnect from a pocket wifi modem or an Android phone, my MacBook Air with Mountain Lion cannot detect my Airport Extreme Base Station. I have to close the pocket wifi or phone the reboot my Mac. After that the AEBS is visible. I was wondering why this is happening. The CD R King pocket modem operates in infrastructure mode. The Android phone operates in Ad hoc mode. The channels are different for all router devices.

Do you use the same SSID?

this could be an IP/DHCP problem.

    When I use the AEBS:

    Destiny Modem<---->AEBS<------->Mac

When I use CDR King 3G Pocket Wi-Fi:

    Hi.

    Thanks for the information.

Kindly provide the IPs/IP Range being distributed for AEBS and Pocket wifi.
You can have different SSIDs but if the IP range are the same, you will have conflicts still.

    AEBS: 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.200

    3G Pocket Wi-Fi: 192.168.1.100

    hi-

correct me if i am wrong..

you have 2 different internet sources.

    AEBS c/o destiny
    3g Pocket c/o cellular network

    - after successful connection via 3g Pocket, you are able to browse.. then when you are done, you want to connect to your AEBS?

    given the range you provided:

    AEBS: 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.200
    3G Pocket Wi-Fi: 192.168.1.100

it is very likely for you to not see the AEBS right away- you need to do a refresh or in your case a reboot which is hassle.

    - try to change the range of your 3g pocket to 192.168.2.x series.. if you wish to keep it.. then here's what you can do..

when you are connected to the 192.168.1.100 [pocket 3g].. your gateway[your router] is still associated with the network[ip address] you were assigned to.. your mac is looking for the pocket 3g's mac address[hardware address which is the gateway] and the IP address it is associated to..
--> to help resolve.. you can create a network profile by LOCATION:
    SYSTEM PREF>NETWORK> WIFI> LOCATION > EDIT LOCATIONS.
make one for AEBS and one for 3G.

i connect to different SSIDs too.. so to easily apply the network settings, I choose the preferred location.. here you can modify IP address,SMASK,gw.. then hit Apply.

You are correct with the settings. At the moment the 3G Pocket is accessible via web browser at 192.168.1.1. If I change the range to 192.168.2.X series, can I still access the 3G Pocket settings page at 192.168.1.1?

I really do not want to change anything on the AEBS side because it has served me well for many years.
