    Default Monitor for Mac Mini

    Hello there,

Recently bought a used 3.06ghz mac mini and now I've been scouting around for a display. I know that Samsung is totally compatible with the mini (we have 2 other mini's with samsung monitors) my question is... isn't it that as long as a monitor has HDMI it should work with the mini? I am looking to buy either a Dell Ultrasharp 24 inch or Samsung 23 LED, and am leaning towards the 24

I am afraid that if I buy the Dell and it doesn't work, I won't be able to use it as our whole household only uses Mac's

    Thank you for all inputs

Dont buy a Samsung! I regretted it and sold it immediately.

I highly recommend the LG IPS236 (P10,800 at Foxcom) which is as good as Apples own displays. I use two on my mini. Also, use a DVI cable. Dont rely on the HDMI, theyre not 100% compatible with LG.

I giggled a bit on this one. Monitors are designed to work regardless of OS. If it doesn't, then the unit per se is faulty not its 'compatibility' with macs.

Before buying, be aware of the different aspect ratios (16:9 vs 16:10), panel type (IPS or TFT with LED), and of course general reviews on these monitors on the net. So what are the exact models you'd like to buy?

@ thanks Elbertlo... I was looking at the LG as well...just that LG used to have bad rep I guess now it's worth a second look

@backlashed... I know monitors are designed to work regardless of OS, I've always had macbooks, it is my first desktop and about 2 years ago, when we got a Mac Mini for our church, most monitors either come with dvi or vga...hence I am double checking

Video should work. I mean HDMI is just an interface and it is plug and play. - However, it's the audio that MIGHT not work (IF you plan to use the monitor's built-in speakers - Otherwise, this wont be a problem)

never tried but now the LED TV are as good as monitors,
how do you compare hooking up to a 32 in led tv & use it as daily monitor instead of buying dedicated computer monitor?
anyone tried? what are the bad points using an LED TV as monitor?

I'm using Samsung LED SmartTV Series 5 hooked up to a Mac Mini for a month now........it's great . The only downside is i can't use it on weekends coz my wife is using the TV to watch showbiz talks. Though sometimes i set it with PIP.....everybody's happy.
