    wonder what the HDMI group's problem is (aside from the male plug thing). Maybe they want us to buy a separate female/male cable instead of using one.

    I believe Apple doesn't sell mini DP to HDMI adapters. Third party suppliers do that. Apple doesn't like HDMI. So now vice versa naman.

    That's right, Apple doesn't have an MDP to HDMI adapter. They actually refer you to the MOSHI dongle for that.

    If one uses the Mini Display Port to hdmi adapter, does it carry digital audio as well?

    ^yes and no. the adapter has to support it (most known brands support MDP-HDMI audio), but the source mac's firmware/software must also be updated. older MDP macs didn't support it, initially. but most released from 2010 onwards did.
