External Hard Drive: What Brand are you using?

I have been seeing a lot of threads on which external hard disk is better.

Since I know that all of us has different stories when it comes to hard disks, I have decided to start a poll to see which hard disk is the most used among Philmug members.

If your hard disk is not a popular brand, BUT you know that it uses a Samsung hard disk (or any other brand) inside, please select "Samsung"

Same thing if your using an enclosure, please indicate the specific brand of hard disk you are using.

If you have no idea on the brand of hard disk you're using, then you may select others.

Do not select a hard disk which you are presently NOT using.

Multiple selection can be made if you're using 2 or more brands.

hmmm, to those using Western Digital, did you buy it because of its firewire?

I use both Western Digital and Seagate external drives (1 TB units). The Seagate is not reliable in that it hangs every now and then after a short period of inactivity. The Western Digital is a workhorse and just keeps going and going with no glitches. I've had the WD for more than a year with extensive and trouble free usage for video storage and playback. The Seagate is new at less than 2 months but I wish I didn't buy it.

@ice, no, I didn't buy the WD for the firewire, but it is nice to have. I have both the firewire and the plain vanilla USB version. Both are solid performers.

yup, I'm planning to get a 1.5TB external hard disk kasi

I'm a Seagate fanboy since bumigay yung Maxtor and WD ko around 5 years ago.

kaya lang, with new technologies coming out mas reliable na siguro yung WD ngayon kaya I wanted to see kung anong HD ang gamit ng majority.

I'm using a brand called Memorex. Bought it cheap from Singapore. I've been regretting it. Not because it's slow or unreliable, but because I always need to use two USB ports to make it work! This is for most cases, but when I recently tried it on a netbook running Windows 7, for some strange reason, the extra power cable wasn't necessary... hmmm...

I"m using i-omega, WD Home and Seagate FreeAgent Go, and I like the Seagate the best (faster than the other two)
