blackberry BIS while roaming
I am subsribed to BB max via Globe. A friend mentioned to me that even while roaming, BIS will work via the cell network and that you will not incur data roaming charges in the process. He explains he BBMs while roaming and doesn't get charged a cent. Is this true?

Re: blackberry BIS while roaming
It is not true bro... BIS will work but will be treated as a data service by the roaming partner. Good thing you can enroll for Bridge DataRoam if your traveling within Asia and avail of unlimited data roaming charges so you can fire away with all the BIS functions and maximize usage of your BB Max.
I can vouch for the service and this year alone have used it in HK, SG and BKK. Just make sure you set your BB to manual network mode since it has to stick to the Bridge Alliance partner telco or else you'll be charged an arm and a leg for data charges and Globe cannot do anything about it.
Expect for the very best but always plan for the worst and be prepared to get the surprise of your life...

Re: blackberry BIS while roaming
the telco will charge you per gprs rates per kb while roaming. if you use bbm a lot while abroad, cheapest way is to receive sms incoming and then send out reply by bbm. incoming bbm still uses data, hence the roaming charge. incoming sms is still free (in most countries) for the one roaming.
