Which is the better keyboard? the old crystal case or the recent slim type

i'm wondering w/c bluetooth keyboard do u prefer. the old one in crystal casing with numeric pad or the recent slim aluminum type w/c doesnt have the numeric pad.

i'm a professional writer and editor, so i use keyboards practically the whole day (and way into the night), and i can say for myself that the new slim aluminum keyboards are definitely easier on the fingers. i'm a traditionalist and i didn't think i'd like them, but i adjusted really quickly.

i prefer the wired keyboards to the wireless ones, though--no batteries and connections to worry about.

for me, the old one is better. The numpad is essential to me.

But if they made one with a numpad (wireless) of the newer version, that would be awesome.

Also, I hope there would be a version with black keys... - the white keys don't get along with iMac / MacBook Pros.

Keyboard, and mice, feel are very much a personal preference. More so for people whose "lives" depend on it like Penmanila, and programmers like me. Keyboards greatly affect our working experience. Either the keyboard becomes "invisible" or becomes a hindrance to our work. Unfortunately, it takes several hours before one can judge a keyboard.

I can't last for more than 15 minutes on some keyboards while I can go the whole day on the keyboards I use now. Some scour the world looking and hoarding keyboards like the IBM Model 42s. I still have a few, though they are PS/2 connectors. Even those keyboard protector/skins make a huge difference for me. Those I can't stand for more than 30 seconds.

I prefer the old aluminum Powerbook/Macbook Pro keyboard to the black/white keyboards of today. But I do own a couple of slim aluminum keyboards for ergonomics.
