Ipod touch charging problem. Flashing lightning bolt then the plugged in picture.

Guys once again, i need your help. Yesterday i bought my mom an ipt4gen. My mom called me this morning and asked me to come by the house and look at the ipod touch. When it's charging, the lightning bolt alternates with the plugged in picture... Can someone pls tell me what to do? I have tried hard restart but same case. Should i take it back?

have you tried charging to another computer?

or try using a different connector to USB cable

I got new a new cable and it seems to work this time. I'm going to observe it for a few days. Thank you guys for the suggestions.

Same thing happened even with the new cable from digital walker moa. I would like to share my experience. I purchased the ipod, wednesday night(december 8). As you can see from the first post, The first time i charged the ipod(dec 10), I noticed it was not charging continuously. Instead, the lightning bolt and plug picture alternates. It stays and flashes like that until i remove the cable and plug it again, then after 5 minutes, same thing happens. So i decided to go to d. walker moa and have it checked. Rico(the OIC), was the one who assisted me and I showed him what happens with the ipod. He said I have to leave the ipod at the shop because they need to send it to their tech department. I was polite at first but it seems he was beating around the bush trying to get me to leave the ipod so that the tech department can take a look and fix it, he says. I said NO, I want a replacement. After 40 minutes of talking to him and telling him about my rights, he finally calls gerard or gerald from d. hub greenhills. They said i should restore the ipod. Why should i have to do this? Shouldn't apple products be 100% working when i take it out of the box?? Anyway, i had my mbp with me but they dont have internet connection so i was not able to restore it. Finally, they gave me a new cable to try. And so I did. so i plugged it in and we waited 20 minutes in the shop to see if the same thing will happen. It did not. So i went home.
Sadly for me, the cable did not do the trick . So i found myself back in their store yesterday. I was there at 11 am. And to my surprise, i found out that a DOA(dead on arrival) code was given to rico by gerald the day that i complained about the ipod. Than means rico could have replaced my ipod instead of giving me a cable!!! and you know the part that sucks most was that I was there standing(no chairs were offered until the very last 20 minutes of my stay there) for 3 hours!! and no there's more, they made me go all the way to greenhills to pick up the replacement ipod. Apparently, they had 5 ipod touch in the store but it was RESERVED for CUSTOMERS!! as if I DID NOT PAY for my ipod!!!! Anyhoo, i travelled all the way to greenhills.. from moa.. from cavite.. waited 40 minutes there.. explained everything all over again because RICO did not bother to call them before i arrived. Still, i got my new ipod. but lesson learned on my part. I will NEVER buy from digital hub moa again.

It's possible that your USB port is not supplying enough power to your iPod.

@ben, the replacement ipod that i received charges with no problem at all. Not that it matters anymore because i have received a replacement but I have an MBP and that has always been the way i charge my ipods, so i dont think it's a port problem. In addition to that i also have a wall plug. But thank you for your 2 cents.
