But its so easy to make the switch.. Mitsubishi to BMW.. its as natural and easy as Windows to Mac Quite a lot of Mac users own BMW's.. including mini BMW's

This is how i have mine connected as well, but the sound quality of the audio out is not as good as the one found in the apple dock. It's amplified with an output/volume control on the charger body.

The pocketdock w/ audio-out or SIK's din appears to be a better option, to get the most out of your ipod and car stereo.

Ahh, tdbur how I wish. I actually wanted a Land Rover Defender 110, but the missus wouldn't have it. I think some Defenders have been using BMW engines for quite some time. Pwede na rin ang switch na yan!

Thanks wpalomine. If that's the case, then the PocketDock still is a consideration.

Thanks Macmon! It's a good guide. Check out my response in the PocketDock thread...

The SiK imp looks like a good option for connecting to the car's audio system. Maybe I can couple this with the Belkin TuneDok as the holder...

    Hi Arel!

I've placed an order already and I'm hoping that it would arrive soon. The reason I did was because when I connect my iPod to my amplifier via the Dock, there seems to be a difference ( no matter how slight it is) compared to a "from the ear/headphone out" kind of a connection. I'm in no way an audiophile, but somehow, one could really tell the difference of the sound output between the two set-ups.

Sad to say, my iPod car connection is still the old but trusted cassette adaptor connection. But with the arrival of the Pocketdock, I'm hoping to get an improvement in the sound output of the iPod.

P.S. Good luck w/ the NCAA broadcast on Saturday! Of course, we'd rather have you w/ us at the MUG Meet instead.
Thanks, man! I've been doing this for years and yet I still get butterflies in my stomach everytime I hear the buzzer!
I'd really love to join you very nice and helpful people, but our call-time would run smack into the 12 noon schedule of the Karting MUGmeet. I'd surely try and catch up with you people.

    Thanks, my favorite mugger.

@freeformula - I, too, didn't know about the sound difference until I bought myself a dock for my iPod (15 GB lang that's why there were no Docks in the box ). I'll try and let you know of the PocketDock's performance once I get my hands on it.

As of the moment, not yet. I have yet to see a firewire to car charger... I think the PocketDock was not specifically designed for car connection. I just thought since it's portable, might as well use it in the car.

The sound is definitely better than if you used the iPod's headphone jack because it's coming from a digital source. I've set the Belkin's volume level to just about halfway, which is equal to full volume when using the iPod's built-in amplifier. The only downside is that I hear a tiny bit of static thru my car's speakers whenever the volume is low/off. I probably need to just ground it properly.
