Default Help, my Apple TV refuses to delete old video podcasts homeshared from my iMac

I'm bothered by the way my 3rd generation Apple TV seems to refuse to delete some home-shared video podcasts.

I've home shared my iMac's iTunes library with the Apple TV, and often watch some video podcasts I download on the iMac there on the ATV. But there are four old CNET podcasts that refuse to disappear from the ATV's menu, even if I'd already deleted and trashed them from the iMac.

Newer video podcasts I download on the iMac regularly appear on the ATV, and disappear when I trash them, but these four podcasts are always there on the ATV menu, and they even play through when I click on them. These vids were deleted, trashed and cleared from the iMac long ago, yet still are there sitting on the ATV menu.

Now I know the ATV can't store the files, so they must be still on my system somehow, and the ATV can still find them. But how? It's been weeks, and they're still there, and I'm at a loss as to how to delete them.

    Anyone know what's going on?

Is it possible the apple tv is getting it from a different Mac?
The greatest harm can come from the best intentions.

Try to turn off your ATV (unplug from power outlet) for some time, say 24hrs. I've lost downloaded rented movies this way although that's not what I wanted. See I downloaded rented movies for future viewing but I noticed that if my ATV is turned off for some time, I have to re-download previously downloaded movies. Seems like prolonged shutdown deletes the contents of the ATV's flash memory. Give it a try in case you haven't done so already though I'm not too sure about the 24hrs because my ATV is turned off longer than a week at times.

Thanks. I think I can turn it off and unplug it for 24 hours, but I don't know if I can stand to have it off longer than that, I use it pretty often. I'll give it a try.

mmm....I think you're on to something. If so, then the possible solution is to deauthorize all and reauthorize the ATV and current devices linked to the account.

    Nope, no possibility of that.
