Does Multitasking Slow Down IPT4/IP3GS Performance?
I know this is a bit late for discussion but does multitasking slow down the performance of the iPod Touch 4G or iPhone 3GS?
Has apple released a statement to bust or prove this myth?
(I tried searching google, but they are all opinions and JB related, which doesn't answer my question. I couldn't find a thread related to this as well.)

All multitasking gives a performance hit. Having said that, I've had IOS4 in my 3GS and it's all decent.

So it does slow the device down?

Basically multi-tasking will slow anything down so the answer is yes.
The matter of how much is another matter. It all boils down to how well the device can handle the juggling of tasks. although a lot of factors can affect this, the core processor and the amount of memory (not to mention the type) are large predictors of performance when doing more than one task. The iPhone 3GS has the same amount of memory as the iPod Touch 4 however it has a slower Arm 8 processor (800Mhz bumped down to 667Mhz) compared to the iPod touch 4's newer A4 (1GHz bumped down to 800Mhz).
