Default How to set up 2 routers?

    Hi friends!

i have 2 routers, one was recently provided by PLDT (modem/router in one) and my existing router (CDRking 5358U)

since the CDRking router could download torrents on its own, i would like a set up wherein the PLDT router would act as the primary router giving out the WIFI, whereas the CDRking router would just be connected via cable to the PLDT router just so it could download torrents on its own.

also, any ideas how to port forward this PLDT modem?

    thanks!

Just turn off DHCP on the one NOT providing the wifi and you should be fine

thanks for replying! 2nd question, any idea how to port forward?i cant seem to torrent properly, im guessing my ports are blocked by this new router/modem (does that even make sense? im a noob at networking)

also, would i stick the 2nd router to one of the lan ports of the pldt modem/router or to the PC?

    thanks

You connect the second router to the pldt modem/router's LAN port. But you connect the pldt modem/router to the second router's LAN ports as well, not the WLAN port, so that the second router does not do any routing/NAT. You shouldn't need to port forward. Besides, torrents jump ports, which makes them very difficult to block.

AFAIK, even if a particular port your torrent client is using is blocked ( not forwarded) , you can still download. It is the uploading (after you are done downloading) that will be a problem.

May I suggest you try downloading with uTorrent first without the CDR King router. Check for an open port ( green indicator light) and use that for the 5853u's torrent client settings.

If I remember it right the 5853u is Tomato based. You may want to use it under bridge mode

For uTorrent I just used the default port, 51957, used by uTottent and my Mac's IP. In your case find out what port your client is using and then use your CDRKing's IP. That means the CDR King must get a static IP or a dynamic one with a very long lease.

ok, so i followed the following instructions:
    A. turned off DHCP on the cdrking router
    B. turned the CDRking into wireless ethernet bridge
    B. stuck the cdrking router via cable from the lan port of the pldt router TO the lan port of the cdrking router

however, i cant seem to access the cdrking router via
http://192.168.11.1/. Which part did i mess up? hehe

If you have the cdrking router on bridge mode, you can use its wlan port. But that might not solve your problem. I think your problem is with network addresses. What network range does the pldt router give?

If the pldt router uses 192.168.1.x for example, you should set the cdrking router to a 192.168.1.y address. You won't see a 192.168.11.1 device.

    @briareos
how do i change the network range? pldt uses 192.168.1.1, while cdrking uses 192.168.11.1

ang hirap! haha i just got my old modem back and stuck the cdrking router. hahaha.
