Default Warning: unable to list Firewire devices

This appeared in my System Profiler after i tried to connect my mini-dv camera via fw400 to import videos to iMovie...

I googled it already, gone to Apple Support, did whatever they said to do, and still it persists...

Now what kind of a pain in the ass is this anyway?

Something similar happened to me before - I have 2 FW HD enclosures and both of them have identical FW identifiers. I could not plug both of them without one failing. Try unplugging all FW devices from your mac and try plugging them in 1 by 1.

You could also consult the /Applications/Utilities/Console app's logs to check the actual error. This was how I discovered the FW identifier problem.
The greatest harm can come from the best intentions.

could be something else other than an identifier problem, lamski...or maybe the ports got fried, which i hope they didn't...

i just hope its more of a software than hardware problem...

    anybody else experienced this?
