Since you bought your MacBook May 2007 then probably your maximum memory is 2GB.

I also use Visual Hub and I most say that when converting videos, the temperature shoots up around 80C to 90C. So, I guess it is normal.

i believe you can go till a maximum of 3gb (1x1gb module and 1x2gb module)

please refer to this site for performance testing on RAM upgrades

So, it isn't true that the two rams have to similar, e.g. 1.5gig + 1.5 gig?

the suggestion by some is to upgrade in pairs..like 2gig plus 2 gig will give you 4 gig. But some notebooks can max only at 3. So if you use two 2 gigs it will only read 3. Or try a 2 gig and a 1 gig. Ive never heard of 1.5 gig + 1.5 gig to make 3gig total.

Ok. I am using 2gigs on my Macbook 2.0 Ghz early 2007. I noticed lately that the beachball sign comes out while surfing. I recently just upped my HD to 160g. Could it be my a RAM (or the lack of it) be the problem? Should I up the RAM to a total of 3 gig?

@180er, it is probably due to an app that eats a lot of CPU processing. You may have a buggy app. I have 2GB and I only get the beachball when I have Aperture running and updating photo previews - which really takes a lot of CPU processing power.

While surfing, do you have any other apps running?
