    Red face macbook not charging

Help! My MacBook is not charging. I've had it since July 2008 and I just want to check if there's anything I can do before bringing it for repairs to Manila (i'm currently in Mindanao).

My battery says "Not Charging" and the LED indicator remains green while plugged. And when I unplug the Power Adapter, the MacBook shuts down.

I've tried the following but nothings seems to work.
    1. Force Quit (Option-Command-Escape)
    2. Restart (Control-Command-Power)
    3. Force Shut Down (press the power button for 10 seconds)
I've also tried this to no avail.
    1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
    2. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the computer's battery.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
    4. Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
    5. Press the power button to restart the computer.
    Please help!

Sounds like your battery's gone belly-up. Still under warranty?

Do you know someone else from your area that uses Macbook as well? you can try to borrow their charger just to check if there might be something wrong with the charger.. just my few cents!

btw, did you download any firmware update for your battery? what was the last thing you did before this problem started? you already did the SMC reset right? maybe its time to send it over to an apple expert..

Yes, fortunately it's still under warranty but I'm not sure if the service center in Davao are as reliable as the ones in Manila so I'm trying to exhaust all options first.

I think it was just on sleep mode when I was away for four days and when I came back the problem with the battery started.

I've dowloaded battery update 1.4 since my battery seems to be affected
Device name "ASMB016" in the serial number
A Pack Lot Code is 0002
    A battery firmware version of 0110 )

However, when I tried downloading the update, a prompt states "This update requires Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 or newer or Mac OS X Leopard version 10.5.6 or newer." My System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.4 (9E17).

I hope that I can find something that works first since the apple experts might be away for the holy week holidays.

I think the battery is dead. BUt try updating your OS to 10.5.6 first

yeah, ikenn is right, try first to download the latest update for our OS, then download the battery firmware.. see if that works.. but i guess, you need to send it to an apple authorized center for repair or a possible battery replacement..
