You estimate is a bit too low. Mac Pros command a premium even years old.

Mac Pros are rare beasts. The owners almost always never sell them. I agree with Zoey that it is wise to ask V8studio as he is quite experienced with Mac Pros. I believe he may even know where to source second hand units.

Anyway, to oBoy, welcome to Philmug.

Would suggest you get the latest models brand new if budget can be extended as these do stay working even if you dont like them anymore. They aren't like the mobiles that almost always have issues and which requires an APP as a must have.

If you are simply asking for prices, it varies a lot. The going rates in PHL for used macpro boxes sometimes exceed the price of a brand new 27-inch imac - even for that 2008 model.

War is correct, it could reach as high as 100k, but if i have that money, i'll just save some more and buy new naturally. There is just too much security in buying new and too much risk in buying old - unless of course, you know what you're doing and there is a bargain out there.

I have bought and sold macpros ever since they came out, i think i am an addict with that electronic-plasticky-metal smell when you pop out the box and it fills the room ( if Stefano Gabbana can replicate that smell, i'd fall in line on opening day of its release).

I tried sourcing a second hand Mac Pro for our studio but ended up buying a brand new one instead because the pricing was still high relatively high (cheapest was 80k for Mac Pro 1.1). On top of that, second hand units normally can't be paid in installment unlike brand new units with various payment schemes available
