I think Motion will make a lot of editors want to get a dual 2GHz G5.

Too soon to tell but I reckon it'll be a killer app, if not with version 1.0 then with version 1.1+/2.x. Apple's got a pretty excellent track record with its pro apps.

What I'd like to know is what Adobe think of Motion. ;-)

Looks promising. And the $300 price tag is attractive. But add the $1000 of Shake it then gets a little expensive to the $1000 price tag of After Effects. But then it's all built in HD. Apple has made HD editing and compositing available to ordinary people. But the hardware requirements may keep others away. Then I have to think of all the plug-ins that I'd have to purchase for AE.

But if the product is launched here, I'll be interested in seeing it at work.

I agree but then again a $1000 software is not something that "ordinary people" would buy.

Shake is for the pro's and hollywood type of production. Motion would be for those event editors like myself who wan't to look pro at the cheapest price. Short learning curve plus the ready made templates which will make Motion fun to use as Livetype.

A few days back Apple Shake was priced at US$ 4,995.00 if I'm not mistaken, now Apple Store pegged it at US$ 2,999.00.

Well in a way it's now readily available to consumers. Unlike in another century where computer graphics and visual effects used to cost at least in the millions of pesos for the machine to do just compositing and another to do animation and so on. Now you can have a complete professional setup in one machine for less or in some cases a trimmed down version for what it cost us to get our macs. This is a great time to be alive.

I guess for current AE users, with Motion's price tag they wouldn't mind having both.... they know AE will do the job like before, while Motion might make some tasks easier.

As for new users, they might go with Motion since it's cheaper.... until some project hits the ceiling and they have to go to AE for stuffs that Motion can't do.

My 2cents, I'd say both will coexist for a bit of time while Motion plays catch up.
