If you are using it for gaming I would just use bootcamp. You don't need to buy any extra software that way too.

If you're using Lion, I think I read somewhere that VMWare is having a few problems, while the latest Parallels is fine. Can anyone verify for us? VMWare will probably have an update soon anyway, but thought you'd want to consider this.

Apparently, officially VMware does not support Lion at this time.

^didn't have problems with my vmware on lion. i didn't touch a thing. worked as well as it did on leopard.

i've been using vmware for years now, after switching from the first version of parallels. parallels v6 seem to be better now than vmware, but with my scant use of virtualization, there's little sense for me to migrate to parallels now. my 8-core mac pro can always make up for the performance difference.

I will need some upgrading of firmware etc via PC only apps like for Windows Phone, some Android system hacks that are only available via PC only, which would you recommend I use?
I only have XP SP3 and have no plan upgrading to Windows 7,

before Boot camp is fine with all the jobs but after I upgraded to Lion and tried update to SP3, it ruins my bootcamp and I have to remove the partition,

pls recommend which will be best for my jobs

Virtualbox for me I think is much better than VM and Parallel, most importantly, its free!

suppose i were to install windows xp via parallels on osx lion running on an ssd, would i eventually run into "trim" related problems?

i plan on installing a windows os into my mac solely for cadding purposes, meaning i wont put any of my usual crap in the said "partition"

Upgrade to 8 GB RAM and use bootcamp. That's what I do with my MBP Flawless games.
