    Default Is This A Vector?

Is this a vector? To me, it looks different from the usual vectors I've seen here. Is this style easier to do vs. the 'normal' way of vectoring?

Sorry if I sound so vague here, but vectoring is just waaay over my head!

I'm not an expert, so I can't say for sure. Looks like one, though, especially around the eyes.

Here's a picture of the original Vector - Vector Wood!

I'm not sure what the native file format of this image is but there are two general image types, vector and raster based images.

Vectors are down with mathematical equations to draw an image. They are scalable and resolution independent. Vectors are usually best used for flat images with out that much gradiation. Of course if you really take time and effort you can make an image that has a lot of gradients but it won't come close to a photo.

Raster is based on bitmaps. It paints an image pixel by pixel. This type of images are best for images with lots of gradients such as photographs.

the above image can be done with photoshop which is a raster image editing software as well as illustrator. I would think it was done with Illustrator, Freehand or Corel Draw.

first glance; its a cross-apps. i find the waving face contours too intricate to be done solely with a vector program like illustrator.

It's possible to create realistic-looking artwork in Freehand and Illustrator. Check out the following samples:

Contrary to what most people have said, this image was actually done solely in Photoshop. My sister made it, but she won't tell me how she did it.. haha!

Yup that's definitely doable in Photoshop. Either she used the cutout filter or did a lot of masking and airbrushing to get the effect. I mean you can get the effect both in Photoshop and Illustrator but since this was done in Photoshop I would expect a more pixelized (but maybe slightly unnoticeable difference) print-out of the image.

I believe she used vector paths in Photoshop. The curve of the bottom lip is too perfect. Same goes for all the shades of her skin and the eye lashes, hairs. Its very hard to achieve those effects by mouse or Wacom alone. So in essence, vector art pa din siya.

Either that or very very matiyaga siya.
