    Default My first vector project

Like the topic says I made my first vector image this evening while waiting for the clock to strike 11pm before I go out clubbing. After about three tutorials, two hours and almost five glasses of water, here it is let me know what you think and feel free to give me some more tips. It's kind of fun. Just wanted to share.
By the way, I'm using macromedia freehand so if you have some tricks using that program, let me know. Peace and have a safe but fun weekend!

Very well done Caloysam! The fact that it's your first work makes the feat even more impressive!

winzu, I used illustrator cs... the outline is pretty easy... it's like tracing your image basically... but the fine details is the kicker... that's where I had a hard time somewhat...

myles said that just like caricature drawing, the trick is finding which detail to include and which one to leave out. Making the avatar too detailed makes it look too real, while leaving out important details makes the picture look unfinished.

    Any tips, master vectorizer carlo?

The U2U messages were overwhelming so I guess I'll post most answers here. I did not think I'd actually get requests for drawings or tips. Any person familiar with Macromedia Freehand could actually do this. It's easy. Here are some tips:
-choose a very nice picture with good contrast.
-Use Freehand MX. The masking is more intuitive. Illustrator can give the same results but not as fast as our favorite vector/lay-out application.
-Do not trace everything. Tracing everyhing is.. uhm.. simply tracing.
There are parts that I did not trace at all but were drawn by hand.
-Use less flesh tones as possible.
-never use the white on teeth and eyes.
    - do not hide imperfect contours/shapes, eye bags.

    PS
My apologies for not accomodating the recent requests. Most of what I made were from people who asked 6 months ago. There is suddenly a huge demand for it and I am not really a full-time "avatar maker".
