    Default LimeWire Pro

    Hey dudes,

Just thought I'd share this. I bought LimeWire Pro earlier, and it delivers! I thought it was just one of these "extreme marketing" tactics that happens all too often on the net, but this one's for real.

While the basic version is good enough for music files, the Pro version handles videos quite well. I used to take overnight downloading a 350-450MB AVI file, and now it's taking an hour - thanks to the correctly promised more results leading to more hosts to download from.

I used to clock around 15KB/sec max but now I'm doing 100+KB/sec with 2 concurrent files.

Of course, it needs a great internet connection... but if you have that, then this is sure worth the USD 18.99 it costs!

Have any of you been experiencing your system performance slowing down whenever you have Limewire on?

I bought Limewire Pro about a month ago and since I love downloading while doing Photoshop work, surfing the net, and listening to iTunes, I've noticed a significant decrease in the systems performance.

My photoshop actions get slower. My iTunes stalls once in a while. For example, I just imported a whole CD into my iTunes and it was doing it at about more or less 1X reading. But when I quit Limewire, the importing speed increased to about 6.5X almost instantly.

Not to mention, that Limewire itself sometimes takes a while to respond to when I click on certain songs.

Do I have too many apps open at one time? Poisoned seems to work better for me but I guess since I bought Limewire I relaly want to use it. What could be causing this slow down?

there's a lot more stuff you can find with limewire pro than with poisoned. the interface is nothing to write home about--it looks like some OS9 app--but it delivers bang for the buck. yes, i suspect it's a performance hog, but you can have one machine on your network devoted just to it (if you have that option) while you do real work on another

Last night I had Limewire and Photoshop open at the same time too. It did slow down too. Even when I quit photoshop.
