Default wifi problem with pldt mydsl

I am not a newbie when it comes to computer or anything related to it within the 3rd degree. To put it quite frankly, I know nothing, and I need some help.

I'm currently having a problem with my pldt mydsl connection with regard to getting some wireless action going around here. For the past two weeks, pldt has been having some problems with a certain ip address (specifically 169.254.89.102 in my case), so I've had to reset my modem twice a day. For two weeks now. The only ip address that's working for me right now is 122.54.40.237.

I really didn't mind much as long as I can access the internet anywhere at home. And the only way I can do that is if I tuned in to my wireless connection. The trouble is (been spending the last 5 hours trying to figure this thing out) that everytime I connect my dsl cable to the wireless router, I get to detect the router, but no internet! Then when I connect the internet back to my MB, the ip ad has become 169.254.89.102, which doesn't work. Then I have to reset the modem once again, until I get that 122.54.40.237 ip address once again. Voila! I have internet once again, but wired, which isn't exactly my idea of a good surfing time. So I plug the cable once again to the router, and the whole thing goes on and on and before I realized it, I've wasted 5 hours of my life. Cool.

Help? PLDT 172 hotline isn't much of a help, to say quite frankly.

Can't you just assign the IP 122.54.40.237 in your router?

Oh, and I have one of those cheap routers from CDR King, by the way. Encore ENHWI-G2 router. I know it's cheap, but it has been very trusty so far, so I don't really think it's my problem right now.

As they always say, you get what you pay for.

With regards to your problem, your router may be having trouble "saving" its configuration. Try borrowing a different router from a friend and try it on your network to see if the same thing happens. If it doesn't, well you know what's causing your problem. If not, then its time to read the manual of your router -- maybe you missed something when you initially set it up.

I think I've experienced that before. You may try searching for the thread that I created with regards to setting up my wireless connection. I think it has something to do with cloning the MAC address? I'm not really sure but it worked for me..

Onga eh. I had to do the quality-speed-price triangle test when I bought the router. We needed a wireless connection at home badly, so either we had to sacrifice and wait for 6 months to get a time capsule, or starve for the next few months. Hehehe. So cheap router it is!
