The time capsule is an amazing solution and I've been contemplating on getting one until I found this thread. Thanks guys. I'll just wait until Apple sorts out this problem.

From my research the TC units that died are usually from 2009 (and died around 2010). It seems the third and fourth gen TC are doing okay - so far. Any 2010 TC owners out there who used their unit over 12 months?

Mine was a 2009 model that died on me a month ago — the TC lived to a "ripe old age" of 18 or so months. He will be missed. I wonder if you guys know of some enterprising individual or outfit who has tried repairing it?

On another note, I am curious as to why the 2Tb TC sells for P25,990 in Apple Reseller Stores (I checked at Sw!tch and DH online). AppleStore.ph lists the product at P13,490 although shipping time is 5-7 weeks (due to delays in NTC release). I assume this is the next-gen TC. The new 3Tb TC is listed at P23,490. Given this info, I will assume that the current TCs in stores now will sell for a bargain when the new gen units are released.

I am currently using a Linksys E3000 but the interface is so complicated — especially that I can't pair it with another E2000 as a repeater/bridge. Seems the process requires a Ph.D. in DD-WRT (Linux) to set up it up properly.

    Hi Sir Soloworx,

I checked Applestore and it seems the 13,500 php price tag is for the education discount - yep, its definitely the 4th Gen Time Capsule. I wonder what are the improvements.

You're right, Ryan. Regular non-K12 price is P14,490 — a P1000 difference. I can live with that. Thanks.

    Hi Soloworx,

Did you leave your TC on 24/7 during its 18 month life-span? Does the Airport Utility still see your TC?
The greatest harm can come from the best intentions.

Lamski, yes, the TC was on all the time. Thing is the Airport Extreme Base Station (older than the TC) was also on all the time because it was used as a bridge/repeater. The AEBS is still alive and kicking although, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to use it as a bridge to the Linksys E3000.

Nope, Airport Utility does not see the TC anymore.

I would have bought a new AEBS (dual band) but stores don't have it in stock. I believe the new-gen AEBS is still stuck at NTC. Even AppleStore.ph states a 7-week delay in fulfilling an order for it.
