Slow Page Loading in OS X 10.5.6 but not in Vista Bootcamp Partition?
Hi guys, just wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed this. This only happened recently where I noticed that loading times of pages when I surf are taking longer than usual to load. I tried using both Firefox and Safari and noticed that both showed slow page load times. I booted up my older XP machine and noticed that pages were loading normally, faster than what I was experiencing on OS X. I tried using my Vista partition through bootcamp, and oddly enough, surfing was also faster. I'm guessing its safe to assume that the problem is in OS X, and not my router or connection?
Anyway, I figured out the problem, I found out after researching online that Leopard has had some DNS/IPv6 issues. The solution was to use a better DNS server, OpenDNS, which I also saw mentioned on here in the forums. I have since then added the DNS settings in my system preferences and noticed that my page load times are back to normal. I also turned off IPv6 for good measure under system preferences->Network.
With that done, I'm just wondering why this happened. I know that OpenDNS speeds up page load times, but I've never had this issue before. I'm just wondering what changed. Any feedback from you guys would be great.

System Preferences->Network.
Click on the Advanced button on the bottom right. Under the TCP/IP tab, you should see a pull down menu for configuring ipv6. It was on automatic before. I just set it to off.
This is only helpful though if you also turn off ipv6 with Firefox. Here's the procedure:

There's a lot more stuff on there ^^^ on how to increase page load times with Leopard.

Well all you need to do is just change DNS servers I guess.
Are you experiencing any slow down at all right now with page load times? The only reason I did this was because it was noticeably slower than normal for me, both Firefox and Safari.
