prob with Linksys WRT54G2 wifi on my Powerbook
hi have a problem with my Linksys WRT54G2 on my Powerbook wifi,
i used to have a Netgear router but it was getting slow due to old age maybe so i replaced it with a Linksys WRT54G2.
Now my Powerbook can't connect using the WPA password...the error is the system is not compatible with the security system..but when i use it on the Powerbook's LAN outlet i can connect to my network
can anybody pls help? thanks

WLAN outlet? Whats that? Do you mean you can connect via wired ethernet cable fine, but not via Wifi?
Did you configure your Linksys correctly, setup wireless security. Double check your protocol settings both on the router and your mac. they both have to match exactly. If it doesn't work, try making a new password or new network name.

Try different security settings to see which one will work. Try turning the router's security off to see if it will work, then try turning it on and try different types (WEP, WPA, etc.)

i have the same setup in my house and if i got your description right, i ran into the same problem before. it's just something about your connection settings. sorry i haven't got back to my house for 2 weeks now
i'll see if i can check that this weekend.

Set it to WEP (64bit 10 hex digit). Make sure default transmit key is "1". Type a word or whatever in the passphrase field and click generate to create some keys. Or type it yourself if you can.
Set the same on your mac. Note that the password you should enter in your mac is whatever is in the "Key 1" field. not the "passphrase"

why keep using WEP WPA ... use your access control .. mac address filtering... much better.
