LF: Anyone who can save us from PLDT MyDSL Hell
hi. unfortunately, because of our location in Legaspi Vill, we can only use PLDT DSL at the office. the thing is, we've been having problems with the stupid Zyxel modem and we've been broadband-less for the last 4 days which has translated in so much lost business for the agency.
the PLDT guy was here this morning and all we got was the usual idiotic answer, "Ser, gumagana po naman sa Windows XP, wala ho kaming alam sa Mac e..."
i'm so fed up with with this F$@$@$@ PLDT and our IT guy is currently unavailable.
anyone out there who can do a quick fix on our modem and wifi router. we're willing to pay.
contact me at 0917-5227725 or 856-6317.
thanks.

Was your DSL connection working before???(on the macs?)
The PLDT guy said it was working on the PC...was this on your Office PC? or was this a laptop that he brought with him???
...Anyway, you might just want to try and restart everything and zap your PRAM as well...most times this is the quick solution...

@johnamon,
Maybe you can post your office setup here so we can try to trouble shoot. Am a PLDT DSL subscriber myself using an Airport Express wifi router.

Re: LF: Anyone who can save us from PLDT MyDSL Hell
Hi there.
Our office uses PLDT DSL also. Our network has both PCs and Macs. The package we have uses static IPs now. We upgraded from PPPoE. Maybe this could get you up and running.
If you are on PPPoE, a solution would be to reset your connection. First, you'll need to shut everything down from the modem, on to the router, then the hub or switch and finally to all units (both PCs and Macs) in the network. Then power up in reverse order: first the modem, then the router, then the hub and finally just the Mac first. Go to system preferences and check your Network. If all is well, you'll see your IP and the router's address. (If you are using linksys, the router address is usually 192.168.1.1 or if you are using a wireless DLink router, the address is 192.168.0.1) If you see that you are connected but your browser can't connect to a web page, check your DNS. You can use the DNS provided by PLDT or OpenDNS. Both will work.
If you are on static IP (which I think you are because your modem is zyxel) you probably just need to enter your DNS numbers.
In both cases (i.e. static IP or PPPoE) you need to access your router and check your network settings. Don't worry. You won't foul up anything.
Of course, things are different if the problem is lineside, meaning there is no signal coming from PLDT but in my experience maintaining our network this only happens when something physically affects the phone lines like lightning or electrical surges.
Hope this helps.

Re: LF: Anyone who can save us from PLDT MyDSL Hell
hey, thanks for the help guys.
RC- yes, it was up and about for a few months, but we had problems when they first installed it. erwin of A Shop came over and reconfigured the modem and our router and it ran well up until the problem 4 days ago.
Sabonis - it's actually a simple office set up. we have a PLDT Zyxel modem and we use a DLink wireless router. we have a 160 sqm area and there are about 13 macs and 1 pc running on the network. before the problem, we'd usually hit a little over 3mbps on the average.
Silverback- Our package uses a static IP also. i'll try the fixes that you shared when i get in on Monday and let you know. thanks for the help man, appreciate it.

Most subscribers have issues with outgoing mail the past two weeks.
You should have a backup for your business if internet is critical.... even maybe zpdee or bayantel

yup. unfortunately, there's no other lined option in our spot along dela rosa and leviste. we're stuck and cursed with PLDT. we've bought all our guys Smart Bros for back up but it's just completely inefficient and costly.

No wonder. I have sent an email to someone 3x already and they were claiming not to have received any.
Thanks for the advise.

Re: LF: Anyone who can save us from PLDT MyDSL Hell
another good option is to get smart bro plan 999 and get a cheap CD-R king router, this could be a backup line or a dedicated video conference line. this is a more efficient way since you can already afford myDSL...
