Initial frustrations with Time Capsule
Is it just me or does Apple make it hard for other non Apple branded devices to connect to it's network products. I just need to vent. I love their computers but their network products are giving me grief.
First of, the TC has no provision for a MAC address clone. I run 3 static IPs from one modem and it would have been so much easier if I just cloned the MAC address that was already registered in my ISPs service. Instead, I had to call customer service and be on hold just to have the Time Capsules MAC address bound.
Next, after setting it up as my primary router. Got all my Apple products to connect to it fine. 2 Imacs, Iphone and a first gen MBP. But, I have an old PC purely dedicated for downloads using a Linksys adapter that could not connect no matter what I did. It detects the TC but refuses to connect to it. Second, my brother XBOX also refused to connect. (micrsosft conspiracy
)
Finally, after searching the net on how to solve the issue, I gave up and used my old DLink router to become my primary router for the products that refused to connect to the TC and made the TC an N only router in bridge mode for the 2 newer N capable Imacs.
Just had to vent really as this was bugging me for 2 nights now.

Re: Initial frustrations with Time Capsule
the old PC should be upgraded to SP3 i think or at least SP2 in XP, that might solve the problem
