Help! Setting up wifi and cable lan on a share internet connection
Hi guys,
Could somebody please let me know if I could share one internet connection (IC) on on two LAN Networks; one would be a Wi-Fi LAN and the other one is CABLE LAN.
Here's the situation: Our office has a PLDT myDSL internet and currently we are Using a Router that distributes IC to all PCs using the UTP Cable. Now, we want to have a Wi-Fi connection but does not want to get rid of the current set up (Cable-LAN). So we'll be buying a Wi-Fi Router.
Is this possible? If yes, how? If not, what shall we do then?
Hope somebody could give solution to my query. Thank you!

The easiest is to just plug a wi-fi access point or router to one of the ports of your existing router. If you don't have a need for more than 4 LAN ports, then you can also just replace the existing router with a wi-fi router.

You mean I can just plug the Wi-Fi router to the empty slot on my Cable LAN router? Will it require configurations? If yes, how should I do it and what are the config data?

yeah I'd think the simplest solution of to treat your new Wi-Fi router as another PC whose sole purpose if to broadcast the IC... so connect the Wi-Fi router to the existing wired hub/router you have.
OR
put the Wi-Fi router in first and since most Wi-Fi routers have cable jacks built into them you can then connect your wired router to it and carry-on from there...
hope this helps!

Yes you can connect one empty slot from your current cable lan router to a wi-fi router's input. There will be some configurations, but how, will depend on your model. Its not as difficult setting up a router, all you have to do is follow the instructions that came with the router.
