This is a discussion on Globe DSL vs PLDT DSL within the Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express forums, part of the Hardware MUG - Troubleshooting and Discussion category; Oooh those new Globelines plans look tempting. I'm currently on a 768kbps, I should find out if I can upgrade ...
in fairness with PLDT, i've been with them for the past 7 months or so and lately, there have been minimal problems with connection. it's been pretty stable for me and i rarely call them for service. right now, here's what i am getting with my 1.5 Mbps subscription on a rainy day:
i'm quite satisfied with PLDT DSL.![]()
I'm in Rockwell Makati and just did a speedtest at 12am in the morning.

I'm on a 2Mbps plan with phone and my experience with Globe has pretty much been hit or miss, especially the last 2 months or so (was only getting around 30 to 40KBps, even at 2 in the morning).
After talking to tech sup almost every other night and having been visited by technicians at least 5 times, my speed returned to normal (should be at least an average of 60% of subscribed speed, according to Globe.)
YMMV.

just got off the phone with a pldt "technical" supot este support. i verified if indeed im still subscribed in the 2Mbps plan bcoz im wondering my speed seem to not get past the 400+kbps rate. i just told them if this doesn't improve within the week i am filing a formal complaint.
i tried 2 tests, don't know which is more accurate..

I think Globe's "wired" service is better than their wireless because they use 3G for their wireless broadband. i inquired because i want to avail of their P995 data only but my location in camarin caloocan doesn't have wired services yet.

I have friends in the makati and pasig area who use the pldt broadband. lets just say that they have friends on the inside bec they pay the 1000p promo but get 1.5mbps (the next level promo) recorded. their "friend" tweeks the cabinet to provide the extra speed bump.
this supposedly doesn't actually affect the other users (i.e. doesn't sap the bandwidth from other customers). its just a voltage thing in the cabinet and your line.
me i use globe broadband (for the last 3 years) for which i pay about p1500 (landline+broadband), remember it's up to 1mpbs. i ususally get 600-800kbps. i live in mandaluyong on pioneer st.
there have been problems with globe (one week of slow speed, totally clueless call-center technical help desk, problems with billing) . just look though this thread to see the complaints from both sides of the broadband arena.

I used to live in Cainta. So we only have digitel and pldt as dsl providers. Of course, we selected PLDT. Ok naman ang PLDT. Nasa 999 per month ang binabayaran namin. Buy my mom wanted to switch over to the 888 plan. any feedback on that plan? BTW, medyo OT ang smart broadband ba nagana sa apple?
iphoneuser,
Regarding your OT query, please refer to this thread you had posted to earlier. (It's quite obvious that those posting there, like myself on SmartBro, are on a Mac/Apple).
