Default Finding WEP password - HELP!

    Hi,

Been trying to connect to my GF's router (Zyxel) but she doesn't know the password. Tried looking for it in her network settings on her computer but can only guess where to look for it because 1. Not too familiar with windows, 2. Windows is in German!!! HELP!!!

    thanks

what a dilemma. maybe you should just hit the router's reset button (that is, if your GF owns the router) and return to default

Try 192.168.xxx.xxx then reconfigure/change the router WEP security password or maybe even change it to WPA security to make it easier to remember.

Try punongbayan's advice, just make sure you're connected via LAN first. Hopefully there's either no access password or she remembers the router's password. Otherwise, you'll just need to reset the router.

try using other pc or mac or even laptop that's in English version. or use your wifi compatible phones. in this way you may reconfigure your GF's router.

There are password utilities for windows. Bring up the wifi login panel of the PC. The working password should be filled with dots. Some utilities will require you to point at the password field. then the password will be revealed in a window. This is not the ideal solution but if you find such utility it can save you time. Sadly the app I used was decades ago. But this tells you it is out there somewhere. I can't remember the name.

Use the pc ur using while PHILmugging hehe. its in English. Goodluck.

    1. Try to keep username password of your DSL/ISP account.

    1. Check router settings by plugging in at WAN port the ethernet cable to your PC.

    2. go to IE then input the IP add of your router; usually its 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or if it doesn't reset the whole router.

    3. Look for account inputs user and pass required for PPOPE or whatever kind of connection you have with the INTERNET PROVIDER.

    4. Then look for security settings stuff and input the WEP you want should be in hexadecimal or it depends really ascii..128 bit..

    5. save the config. or Try go to google.com and look for how to configure zyxel router (model ****)

Accessing the router may not affect the the browser's language. its default is English. Regardless of the language of the notebook, by the looks of it, it wouldn't matter setting it up again. Network preferences will look the same, if its a mac ha.
