File Sharing between Mac and PC wirelessly
I know I've done this before without hassle between my old MBP and Toshiba laptop running Win XP SP2.
But now I'm having a hard time thinking what username and password shall I write on...

I have a HP Mini running on Win XP SP3, firewall configured to allow "File and Printer Sharing"
Any settings that I might be missing? Help!

Re: File Sharing between Mac and PC wirelessly
I've used this guide to setup our home network to share files between my Macbook and my wife's MSI Wind. Maybe this could help.

Re: File Sharing between Mac and PC wirelessly
thanks ethan for the link. If I'm not mistaken, those screenshots are from Tiger (10.4). I'm on Leopard now and I can't figure out how to fix that invalid username/password issue that I'm getting.
I have read many articles and guides and this one works, I can browse shared folder on my Mac on Windows. But still I cannot access my PC files on my Mac.

Hi, the username you need to put is the username on Windows, not the Mac.

I posted this question on Apple Discussions too and I got it working courtesy of jdelima's post...
To quote:
smb://<ip address>/sharename is what you want. Just going to the IP address will likely give this result, unless you've destroyed security on the XP box to make it highly visible!
when prompted for usernames and passwords, no matter what you're trying to do with a computer, you will always be asked for the username/password combo of the device you are trying to connect to - in this case the XP machine.
smb://<ip address>/sharename did the trick!
Thanks codename_ethan and LeoCastillo!
