    Default Eastern Telecom\'s EvO DSL

Check this out: Eastern EvO DSL.

The packages are really attractive. Cheaper than PLDT myDSL, static IP address, SDSL (symmetric, same speed for downloads and uploads), multiple users allowed (depending on the package), etc. etc.

And with the EvOlution Time promo, EvO Extreme (512Kbps, P3,500) and EvO Extreme Plus (1Mbps, P5,000) subscribers can also enjoy speeds of up to 2Mbps during weekends, with the promo lasting until August 31, 2004.

Since EvO DSL runs on the same facility used by ETPI's business DSL subscribers, I reckon the service will be more consistent than myDSL's. Having experienced ETPI's quality service before, I'm now seriously thinking of switching from myDSL to EvO DSL. ETPI's business DSL packages are available in my area so I'm hoping the same is true with EvO DSL. Time to call up my ETPI contact. :-)

Thanks for the info, henjie. Will check this out. I'm not very happy with my current provider.

I've been contacted by ETPI lately and I'm also interested in their package. Within the Ortigas and San Juan area, they have a high customer satisfaction rate (businesses). Will be evaluating the 256Kbps and 384Kbps options.

Oh, one thing to note: you don't need an existing phone line. PLDT myDSL requires you to be a regular line subscriber, BayanTel requires BayanTel, GlobeQUEST DSL requires GlobeLines, and SkyDSL requires you to have a BayanTel line (they will install one for you if yo don't).

Oh, boy! Thanks, GINO, for the info!

Definitely been wanting to move up from cable modem to DSL. Nice to know it's available in our area!

Arel, I've already contacted ETPI for the Greenhills area. They have it covered, but for apartments/condominiums, they'll need to do a site-survey and be given permission for installation (some apartments/condominiums do not allow installation, as they may have "partnerships"; e.g. certain condos in Ortigas are Home-Cable/ZPDee only).

Last time I checked about 1 month ago they told me that they didn't have it available for the residential villages in the Ortigas/Pasig area yet. I definitely am looking to switch away from PLDT myDSL.

If anyone avails of this, please tell how you like it, not only in surfing and download speed but things like latency, packet loss (for online games), p2p (Kazaa, BitTorrent) performance, etc.

If everything is ok, I might just switch.

I'm so tempted to switch from Destiny Cable Internet. I hope Eastern offers a free trial. I am an Eastern Access (telephone line) subscriber. If it's way better than Destiny, I'm willing to write off the P12k cable modem (paid over 24 months) and the P2k installation fee I paid Destiny.
