when did the problem start, was it right after an update? when you reinstalled, did you immediately update? i sort of remember reading about a prob w/ some mbps with wifi after a certain update (10.5.5 or 10.5.6?).

i read that too that there are problems with the 10.5.6 update...i havent tried connecting my mbp to our network after reinstalling my OS. what i did after reinstalling my OS was i downloaded the updates immediately so i didn't have the chance to check if its after the update :P

I had a similar problem with my MBP Sta Rosa before, what I did was change the channel on the router to a higher number like channel 8 or 9.

Re: Early Macbook Pro Wifi problem
okay, so you're running 10.5.6? since you just reinstalled anyway, you prolly have a recent backup, you may want to try reinstalling again and trying it out before the update to 10.5.6. at least to somewhat determine if it's a software (OS) problem. if it's not (though hopefully it is...) then it might be hardware.
of course you can also try (even before re-reinstalling) the usual panaceas of resetting PRAM and NVRAM.
