Default Airport Extreme Base Station (802.11 n) Reviews

Just got the new AEBS and I just wanted to share a few things for future buyers.

    1. Signal is seems quite strong (so far anyway... i have to roam around the pad first and see how it compares to the express and a modded WRT54g w/ DD-WRT).

    2. I've used a powered and non-powered usb hub and it can see some of my HDD's, USB Thumb Drives and USB Printers.

    3. Having a problem with my 500gb Lacie though. It can be seen with the Airport Disk Utility but it can't seem to mount. The rest of my drives work though. (Only Fat32 & HFS+). NTFS they say doesn't seem to work. I'll give it a try later on to verify for myself.

    4. I've noticed that the Printer drops connection after a while of not being used. HDD I haven't noticed just yet.

Thanks for that link Maverick! That would mean I don't need an Apple TV since I have an older Mac Mini that's not having much action.

My AEBS works well. I only had some problems the first time I tried configuring it since even at WPA or WPA2 mode, it was acting as if it was still unsecure and any wireless device can still connect to it. After I disconnected the power adapter and rebooting it (soft-reset didn't do it), it was fixed.

FYI, I decided to fix security to WPA2 and my MBP and Nokia N800 seems to connect to it with no problems.

that's good Reggie... the only problem i have so far is my Lacie drive. no idea why I can't mount it right. I had a bit of a problem too upon initial setup, but I managed to figure it out.

for windows xp. formatting fat32 has 32gb limit.
here's a solution for drives 40g to 2 TB and its fast.

If you have a mac, I think you can use OS X's Disk Utility to format disks as larger than 32GB using FAT.
The greatest harm can come from the best intentions.

dude, FAT32 supports drive volumes up to 8 Terabytes... better make sure of what you post first so it doesnt confuse noobs. And, you dont need a mac to format big drives to FAT32
