@doughn, so how was it? Just to clarify, your wireless router is a non-Apple brand, right?

Re: Airport Express as Access Point
the older your Linksys WRT54G is, the better.
The firmware of older WRT54Gs can be flashed to allow it to be able to use the APEx as a repeater. I think up to firmware 4.0 can accomplish this. The newer WRT54Gs have less memory space internally so they can't handle the custom firmware.

Re: Airport Express as Access Point
Thread Resurrection! Hehe sorry guys, I just have a question regarding the Airport Express.
I'm planning to buy a router for our other house because I'm gonna be moving there. The thing is, I'd like to try the Airport Express.
My original plan was:
PLDT MyDSL -> Linksys WRT120N
or
PLDT MyDSL -> Linksys WRT120N -> Airport Express (to increase the range)
but it'll be costly.
Is it possible to do PLDT MyDSL -> Airport Express? or will I have problems? and if it's possible, should I place the Airport Express somewhere near me for the strongest possible signal? or does it not matter?

The last I've checked was close to 6K in PowerMac, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh my. I can get two non Apple N routers and achieve the same. It will be an upgrade for me too because I only have a G AEBS. The upgrade will have network storage ability and wireless printing. And I won't be dependent on an Airport Utility when I am on my Linux box.
