Access Your Time Capsule/AEBS Shared Drive via the Internet
First a disclaimer: only try this if you are comfortable with sharing your files over the internet. You can opt to have your disk password-protected, btw.
The guides I used to set up sharing your files are below. It's pretty straightforward and easy to do:
MacRumors Guide
TheAppleBlog
One thing though, when accessing using the method in the guides, it was taking too long for me to connect. I was able to connect using this method:
1. Open Finder and hit Cmd+K
2. For the address, the format I used was "external.ip.of.connection:internal.ip.of.tc-aebs" ex.
100.10.100.100:198.0.1.10. The easiest way I found to get my external IP is to open my Gmail and look at the last account IP at the bottom of the page.
I hope this will help some of the folks there who have been scratching their heads as to how to share their files over the internet for those who don't have or want to get MobileMe (which is still the easiest way, imo). I'd think it also would work if you want to retrieve your files from another Mac, or even share files via an afp link.
Now all I need to figure out is how to do the same for Windows.
