    Default Questions before getting a Macbook

    Hi, newbie here. And not "yet" a Macbook owner (soon, hopefully. )

    I'm planning on getting a Macbook but I have lots and lots questions. Yes, I've been searching the entire Philmug website but I just can't seem to satisfy myself so I've decided to make my own thread. Anyway, I'm a 3rd year college student and the lappy that I would hopefully get would primarily be used for word documents, photo-editing, net surfing, etc. I'm on a tight budget but if I do get a good offer, I can persuade my parents to get me a better unit. (Note: my parents are kuripot haha)

    Well, here are my questions:

    1. What should I get? I've been eying for the Macbook since last year and I'm definitely satisfied with the specs. However, I've noticed that Macbook Pro 13" offers a better deal with just a little amount to add. So.. Macbook or Macbook Pro?

    2. Where should I buy the unit? I would definitely go for the cheapest one! Brand new, preferably.

    - I've seen the Apple Education Store (online) and the MBP 13" is sold for almost 57K. I'm just a bit afraid of buying online, though. So if there is a local reseller that offers the same price, please let me know. I've read a lot about Digital Walker's Mr. Charlie, but sad to say, I haven't received a response yet. I do understand how many inquires he gets per day and that he's busy. But is there any chance that I could just walk into their shop and get a laptop with a discount? And could I get a Philmug discount + a student discount? HAHA. I'm just taking my chances. hehe. Also, could I avail of the 12-months to pay thing BUT still with the discount? And do you have any idea on how much would Digital Walker (or any other reseller) sell a Macbook or a Macbook Pro 13" to me?

    THANK YOU so much in advance. :-) Your response would be very much appreciated. Thanks again!!

    as to the payment scheme for buying your macbook, that would be between you and charlie of digital walker to talk and agree on...but as a newbie, it would be of to your advantage to just get a macbook considering the amount of "work" that you would want to do with it...

    mspink19, if you're gonna' buy a mac at this time frame, your best bet is the Macbook Pro 13". It was just recently refreshed and it will be more useful in the long run. The battery life on a Macbook Pro is much longer than the Macbook, 7 Hours on a Macbook versus 10 on a Macbook Pro. And oh, goodluck buying your mac.

    Haha, it really is a better deal. Just imagine, your choice is plastic vs aluminum. And as far as i know, the Macbook has a big issue with hairline cracks. A Macbook Pro is really more durable than the plastic Macbook.

    But still, choose what your heart desires, if you want a macbook or a macbook pro, it really is up to you. I'm just saying that the Macbook Pro is superior than the Macbook by many factors.

    @mspink19
    First of all welcome to Philmug!

    With budget in mind... and the amount of use your computer will be seeing...i'd suggest get the Macbook and take the extra savings towards accesories i.e. printer, mouse, Apple Care(extended warranty)

    Unless you're going to be dealing with graphics/video the Macbook Pro is a bit overkill...

    RC is right, if money is really important, the Macbook wont hurt too. But if you got some more money to burn, getting the Macbook Pro is a really good investment, if you ask me.
