Re: Macbook White body repair?
The are not called CrackBooks for nothing. The truth of the matter is MacBooks produce more heat than the polycarbonate plastic can handle. While your can change your case now, it will just be a matter of time before new cracks develop. I've learned to fight my OC tendencies and have accepted this fact. It's a design defect and there is nothing we can do about it.
Cracks on the palmrest however can be avoided. The left and right edges can be stressed by the upper lid ridges when the closed laptop is pressed in a bag or by items placed on it. A heavy palm resting on the edge can weaken the plastic. To avoid stress, do not apply unnecessary pressure in those areas or on a closed lid. Wide discs can be placed on the corner to distribute pressure when the lis is closed. They should be as thick as the upper lid ridges.
Back to your question, any Apple Reseller can replace the case. Other guys can do it too like Mark_17 and Ynzal and other 3rd party repair shops. Parts however may not be quickly available. You can source them from Apple resellers or from online sources like Tipidpc.com and eBay.

Re: Macbook White body repair?
Hi macomics, cracking top cases are common. In fact, Apple already granted a repair extension program for it (for polycarb macbooks) for out-of-warranty units with the condition that the defect is the usual cracking and that the estimated purchase date of the unit is not over 3 years ago. Think of it as an Applecare for the topcase of polycarb macbooks.
Any service provider such as us at iFix, digital hub, powermac, and others can process service for you since we can order the part directly from Apple.

Re: Macbook White body repair?
I have a late 2007 MacBook. Is this covered? I no longer have the OR. If eligible, can the part be ordered without me leaving my Mac? By Top Case you mean the keyboard layer right? The one with the palm rests? Are all the white parts (top and bottom) covered by the warranty?

Re: Macbook White body repair?
Yes, that's possible. And yup, topcase is the one with the palm rest, keyboard, and trackpad. It's one part. However, the top and bottom covers aren't included in the repair extension program. But if you're still under warranty, the top and bottom cover can be replaced if the issue is the hairline cracks.

Re: Macbook White body repair?
Shaven, top case is approximately P5,500 to P6,000. Give me your serial number and I can check the exact part number needed for yours.
Macomics, you don't have to bring your receipt. All we have to do is check your serial number against Apple's database, but of course, if you think it's in conflict with the actual date of purchase, then that's the time we'd need your receipt so we can update the records.
