    I stand corrected then.

It's not a biggie to create another iTunes account using a US address. I'm sure you can use the address of a relative or a friend.

guys, making a free US account isn't ahassle. you don't need a credit card, just a US address as soloworx mentioned.

before when apple wasn't that strict, i put "blah blah" in the address because what was important was the zip code and state where you were. few months ago iTunes asked that I had to update my address so I used my relatives' address.

Wait.. Let me clear it. When you buy an iTunes Gift card from Datablitz, it should be redeemed in a US account, right? In short, a US Gift card should be for US account.

I was confused because of solowrx's post.. But it's ok now and it's all clear to me. So it was just right I've created a AU account for an iTunes card that was bought in Australia.

I just asked my brother to buy me a $25 Itunes card at Datablitz yesterday afternoon...

This was my first time to buy an Itunes card and was very excited to buy apps without using my credit card.

My Itunes account uses my Philippine address, and since you can buy apps in the Philippines, it "should" work.

After my brother sent me the PIN, I tried loading the card from my device and it always shows:

"The code you entered is not recognised as a valid code"

I checked some blogs, and there were a lot of complaints about this problem. Their suggestion was to contact apple and tell them the serial of the card or something.

But before I try to do that, just out of curiosity, I tried redeeming using my Itunes on a computer. Now I found the problem:

"Your iTunes Store (Philippines) does not match that of the gift certificate (U.S.)"

Of course, I did not ask my brother to confirm if buying an Itunes card in Datablitz would work with a Philippine Itunes account. I just asked him to buy, just like buying a cellphone load, and send the PIN to me.

And there you go... a lesson worth 1200 pesos...

... and a free lesson for those who are reading this now...

I will probably try creating a US Itunes account so my card wont go to waste...

yes, i believe you can still redeem your US iTunes GC if you create a US account for it. just a tip, don't create a US account using your iDevice, for some reason it doesn't work and won't proceed. just create a new one from your computer.

in any case, having a separate US account is useful. because only it's prepaid, it helps curb app shopping hihihi

Anyone using a BDO Virtual Card? Was able to use this for my app purchases (Itunes US Account).

Used my cousin's US address though. Will this have any effect with the billing? Thanks

that's true. ever since a previous upgrade in the iOS of my portable Apple devices, it's been impossible to update the apps that I purchased. even if my US account has a ton of credits left. I think the Apple server is able to recognize your actual location so when youre purchasing or updating it outside of US territory, it doesnt allow you to anymore. I did not have a problem in May when I was actually in the US, all updates made through the devices were accepted; but the moment I was back in RP, it wouldnt allow me anymore.

so now I have to use my Mac every time. only by syncing the device with the Mac will the updates be made in the device itself.

    Default iTunes Gift Card Question

^ i never had problem updating my apps purchased from my US account, whether in my iDevice or my MBP. With you experiencing that, i feel the hassle of doing so.

^ All of your downloaded apps in iDevice will remain still.. But to be able to sync it with your laptop, all those accounts should be authorized via iTunes. You have to remember also that you can only update apps if you're log in to that account.

I have 3 accounts, by the way.. US, AU, and PH.
