Default Ipad sync on OS 10.4.11

I just got an ipad 3g, without knowing that i cant sync it with my powerbook g4, error message says that ipad can be used on os 10.5 or later only.

Is there a workaround on this, or i am forced to upgrade to a macbook with leopard so i can sync my ipad?

I did a search and some say i can upgrade the powerbook with leopard but i am hesitant because it might slow the machine down..

Any thoughts/suggestions would be highly appreciated..

How about setting up parallels/fusion or virtualbox with Win 7 or Win Xp and synching your ipad from there?

He cannot use parallels/fusion since he has a Powerpc G4 & not an Intel Mac.

My wife's 1Ghz PB G4 1.25GB RAM is running on Leopard. It's fast enough. I did a customized clean install to a new HDD. I did not install other languages, printer drivers, etc.

To speed up your Powerbook and if you have time to completely backup your files, Reformat your PowerBook and do a fresh install of Leopard and then reinstall everything.

My dad's PowerBook has the same specs with red and it is fast enough. It only has Office 2004 installed.
