iPad 3G Benefits?
I'm new to this forum but not new by any means to Apple or Macintosh or the iPhone.
If this has been answered or a topic of discussion here, I apologize and please point out the post.
Question: Besides the connectivity benefits of 3G, are there other benefits like apps that use GPS like navigation maps for Metro Manila?
Any other benefits?
Thanks!!!

Thanks! Is the GPS navigation good in Metro Manila? Any info on this subject?
Thanks again. Just trying to decide if 3G is worth it. If GPS navigation or maps are not good here, it may not be worth the extra pesos for me!

Re: iPad 3G Benefits?
wouldn't you consider being online 24/7 a big benefit for the 3G version?

Re: iPad 3G Benefits?
consider the place you live in, GPS is good for maps app of iPad if you're actually outside your house but it won't triangulate you accurately if you're indoors.
Consider if you have wifi wherever you go, if not, a 3G option is a good option.

Re: iPad 3G Benefits?
is the ipad using gps or agps? i couldn't confirm which one is placed inside the ipad.. anyway from what i can recall, gps makes use of a satellite to determine your position, while with agps it uses cell sites to assist the gps triangulate your position, thus getting a more accurate position..
edit:
i found out from the apple website that the ipad make use of wi-fi, cellular towers and gps to triangulate your position..

Re: iPad 3G Benefits?
^^ AGPS (or assisted GPS) still uses GPS sats to triangulate but it has assists from cellsite triangulation.
For the GPS, in Metro Manila at least, Google Maps is helpful. I'm speaking from experience using the iPhone but they still the same. If you want guided route you can buy OffMaps at $0.99 (not sure if it's still at that price).
I'm switching to an iPad 3G once it is available locally. I'll move all my "always online" services from my iPhone to the iPad for the phone to last longer than a day instead of the usual 6-8 hours on 3G with push email and notifications turned on. With an iPad 3G it can last 10 hours (with videos and music) or more (plain connectivity). If I lucky with cash I'd probably rig my car's dashboard to use an iPad 3G instead

There's a video on Apple's iPad website of a guy who used velcro to connect the iPad to his car, motorcyle & even at places in his home!!
