Clearwire launches iSpot for iPad, iPhone

Clearwire Corp, a provider of wireless broadband services and operator of the largest 4G network in the country, introduced CLEAR iSpot, a personal hotspot with dedicated support for Apple's line of mobile devices, including the iPad, iPod touch and iPhone.

"With the iSpot, Apple customers don't have to sort through confusing service plans with overage fees, nor do they have to worry about how much data they're using. Instead, with CLEAR, customers can run all of their Apple mobile devices at true broadband speeds for a single, simple monthly fee," said Thomas Enraght-Moony, senior vice president of marketing at Clearwire in a statement.

The iSpot is CLEAR's first 4G personal mobile hotspot made exclusively for Apple mobile products, including iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch devices. iSpot users can share 4G speed with up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled Apple mobile devices simultaneously.

This is on sale for $29 (instead of $99), so to those who plan to get it, get it before their launch.

i'm confused is this a portable mifi router + data plan? or purely a data plan only? am i missing something here? thanks

The device itself CAN WORK here its just up to Globe, Smart or Wi-Tribe's WiMax dept. to make it happen. They can buy bulk from the device's maker and configure it to work with their airwaves. This is better bec. Wimax provides consistent speeds and less ping. The device itself can acommodate 8 wifi devices which is better than 5.

But yeah, i don't think it has a sim slot so getting from us and bringing it here will only make it a brick.
