Setting up iPhone 4 on Mac Tiger, is it possible?

Hi guys, I just got an iphone 4. My first iphone ever. My macbook is 3 years old already and is running Tiger OSX 10.4.11. I can't seem to update my itunes despite several attempts. I'm still stuck in version 9.0.2.

The iphone 4 requires an itunes version 9.25 or later but it doesnt seem possible. Do I have to buy a new laptop or OS just to be able to set up my iphone and sync stuff once in a while?

I can have the store set it up for me just to get it running but not being able to do it on my own and losing the mac-iphone link kinda disappoints me.

You'll need at least Leopard to run this.
