iPhone 4 - How is the battery?
Can anyone speak to battery life of the iPhone4? I have a 3GS now and am considering an upgrade (or switching to BB) because of battery life frustrations.

Re: iPhone 4 - How is the battery?
This is based on my experience with Push on and super surf in relative comparison to other phones:
Slightly better than a 3GS
Moderately longer than most Android phones
Significantly worse than a BB.
At least I can go through a day without charging (most of the time).
Expect much better battery life if Data is off. For some reason the hit in battery life in other phones (especially Android) is much worse than compared to in a Blackberry.

Mine lasts for almost 1 and a half day. This is with occasional texts and calls but heavy on 3G and applications usage. It is a huge improvement IMO from previous models even 3GS. My 3GS before just lasts a day with 3-8% left before I go to sleep.

I average around 36 hours.
My settings:
60% brightness (with auto-brightness on)
WiFi - ON (except when I leave the workplace or home)
3G - OFF (no real reason to use it yet)
Notifications - ON (for select apps only)
Location Services - ON (for select apps only)
Mail - Fetch (manual)
Some games, some call/text, pics
Same settings with FaceTime usage - avg. 24 hours (I use it for long periods of time)
Longest run-time without charging - 2 days and ~10 hours

Less data usage, better for your battery. I've had an iPhone 3G since day of release and had it running for almost 36 hours before charging again. I don't use cellular data (3G) but I use my iPhone on WiFi constantly for games and emails etc.

Lasts me around 8 to 9 hours though I've never gotten around to fully drainig the batt just yet. This is with heavy data usage, games, etc.
Normally with the 3gs, I'd have only about 5 to 6 hours of battery life - so the iPhone 4 definitely has enough juice to at least keep me productive throughout most of the day.

Very true and don't forget that the iPhone 4 has (supposedly) a bigger RAM and an all-singing-all-dancing processor so technically the iPhone's battery is a hell lot better as it doesn't just last longer, it's faster as well and looks gorgeous with its Retina display. Even sending text messages on it make me drool. Just kidding. But sometimes I really drool when sending text messages (ha ha!).

Cool - Thanks for the quick feedback, folks. I did hear/read that android phones are even worse than the 3g/3gs when it comes to battery life. That means the iPhone4 is still an option...dang, if that white version came out already this might not even be a dilemma anymore!

Not all Android phones are battery hogs though. My wife's xperia x10 mini pro lasts 3-4 days on average usage - wifi, gps, 3G, sms, calls, camera.
