cannot transfer photo/video from ipod touch 4 to mac

tried using iphoto but no device is recognized even if my ipod touch 4 is connected. tried image capture also but the same problem.i can connect my ipod touch thru itunes with no problem. i can download apps with no problem.i just can't seem to transfer photos/videos from my ipod to my mac.help, pls.

I use a third party software that you can use as a bandaid to the problem. Check it out - PhoneView http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview

Make sure both your mac & ipod have the latest software updates. Glitches like this are usually fixed by simply installing the updates.

just to add, you can also use the Preview app to transfer photos and videos from the iPod touch/iPhone to the Mac, no need to download 3rd party apps.

Plug in the iPod Touch to your computer and use iPhoto. I'm guessing iMovie would work as well. But in iPhoto, the iPod will show up as a media source and you can find your video file there and drag it to your desktop or wherever else you want it to go.
There is a really handy way to transfer your photo from iPod touch 4 to mac.
It worked extremely well.
