SMS on ipod touch 4 over wifi

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is any app out there that can enable an ipod touch 4 to send sms (preferrably free) via wifi connection. The ones I found only support US or canada carriers and other non-Philippine carriers. I know Skype can do this but I don't think they support the Philippines yet (correct me if I'm wrong), and you need to buy Skype credits (w/c I can't), to have those features..... TIA

HeyWire and TextFree can send SMS to Philippine carriers. Both are FREE.

I'm texting my friend in the U.S via my iPod Touch using HeyWire. She's on unlimited data plan (using iPhone 4). So if she texts me back via HeyWire, will she be charged outside her data plan or it will be part of the unlimited data plan?

if you plan on sending messages from the philippines to a local carrier i use to use chikka im not sure if this is what you are looking for.

If she replies using her HeyWire number, it wouldn't cost a thing. But if she uses her data plan, it might cost something.

I texted my Heywire no. using my Smart phone. It debited P15. Can I get +63 number? I tried turning on +63 but still got +1 number.

^they will only give you a US #. just use your HeyWire number to SMS locally and tell the recipient to reply to your smart number instead. Almost all my family and friends are now aware of that so whenever I text them using my HeyWire number, they now know where to reply.

No, I don't think you can get a +63 number because they only give US (and before, Canada) numbers. Texting using Heywire to your phone won't cost a thing but texting using your local number to your Heywire will be charged as international text.

Been using Heywire since yesterday. My friends in the US are able to receive my texts but I texted someone in Saudi numerous times but she wasn't able to receive even one text. However, it's still fun texting my sister in the U.S in real time, especially since I'm only using my iPod
