Eto nangyari... I installed itunes 8, connected my iphone 3g and everything's ok. backup and syncing. then merong mga app updates. so I updated. pero during update, nag restart sya and upon restart, di na bumalik sa home screen, yung black screen with the apple logo na lang.

Sinubukan ko na yung Home + Sleep button, nag off sya. when I turned it on again, hanggang dun sa black screen with the apple logo, inde sya tumutuloy sa home screen. hanggang dun lang. kahit iwan ko sya ng isang oras na ganun na.

pano gagawin ko???? tulong po :_(

trex, you've met the Apple Logo Screen of Death. Check this thread (http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=40639) to kick your iPhone out of this boot cycle. HTH.

trex, read the thread for the link I gave you. Follow the instructions there and I'm sure if you do it right you can recover your iPhone to the home screen.

hi trex. this also happened to me once.. but its not in the iphone logo but while sending a pic through Palringo.. nag hang ung phone then I can never turn it off. if i plug it in sa macbook ko hndi na detected sa itunes... i was so disappointed that day since i am touring my parents sa singapore and i rely with the GPS. the only solution that solved the problem is to let the battery drain.. nung na empty na, i tried charging again and its back.. i hope this will work for you too.

but the feeling is awful... your iphone will heat up a lot when the display is not turned off for several hours.. i feel like my iphone is being battered to death/.. waaa

the procedure na binigay ni Leo worked. I was able to get my home screen back. Sinubukan ko mag sync, this time sobrang bagal naman mag backup ngayon. took 1 hour. inde naman dati. and nag sync ulet ako sa applications, nag hang ulet.. yung apple logo of death na naman na tawag nila.

so ayun gawa ulet yung procedure para balik sa home screen, this time nag restore to factory settings na lang ako. para malinis na. ayus lang naman mag restore. ang importante lang naman talaga eh yung contacts ko eh nasa address book ko na naman yun, madali na i sync.

Pwede bang mag restore to factory settings from the apple logo of death?

inde ba masama sa lcd screen na lagi syang naka on?

LCD screens do not suffer from burn-in problems. :)

possible din makasira sa LCD pag excessive heat na cguro. can cause discoloration pero i hope not.

When i Had this problem, parang gusto ko bumalik sa Singtel at palitan ng brand new unit since it was only like 1 week old back then.. but nanghinayang lng ako, parang may sentimental value na kasi haha..

luckily i did not encounter the problem again

You can try to force the iphone in recovery mode but this will completely erase everything and restore the iPhone

here's how to do it:
1. Turn off the iPhone
2. Hold down the home button while connecting the iPhone to your computer
3. Keep holding down the home button until a message in iTunes comes up that says something like, "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode"
4. Click OK then restore your iPhone

If you haven't done so, I recommend you update to iPhone 2.1 with iTunes 8.
The backups are so much faster and the iPhone is a lot more stable.

Haven't had an Apple Logo screen of death yet with this combo.

Moral lesson: Never EVER update/install apps from the iPhone/iPod Touch App Store. Always do it using iTunes.

@kaloyster, I made the update using iTunes (the crash happened when i already connected my iphone to iTunes and iTunes started updating the app to my iPhone.

@Leo, yep already updated to 2.1 (inabangan ko talaga sya hehehe) . Since the crash, di napalagay loob ko, parang feeling ko anytime mag crash ulet sya hehehe.

nung naupdate sya sa 2.1, at least kahit papano napakalma nako :)

Hello! I just encountered recently that apple logo on my iphone and followed the instructions I found in this thread. However, mine keeps showing the connect to itunes icon. I've held up the phone as instructed but that's all I get. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks so much!

try connecting your iphone to your compuer..then press the home and sleep button until it restarts continue holding both butons until u get this pic..
http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr18/cmclim112/IMG_5896.png
now itunes will say it detects an iphone in recovery mode..then restore your iphone..
sometimes its hard to put it in recovery mode if its in the restart loop..but just act fast when the itunes message appears.. good luck
