My taste for gadget cases is purely utilitarian. That said, I just got a black (yeah I know, boring) Speck PixelSkin for the 3G iPhone I pre-ordered from Globe. Essentially, I have a case for a phone that I don't have yet. Hehe.

I'm currently using a white Speck Toughskin for my current 1st-gen iPhone. I accidentally dropped this phone while playing with my dog, this product saved it–-no scratches, no dents no nothing. How's that for an endorsement. :)

Same with me, I already bought a case eventhough I don't have the iPhone 3G with me yet. Bought Invisibleshield from longbeard last Wednesday and it arrived just this afternoon.

I want my iPhone naked but protected.

Thank your sir Charlie for the heads up on the new accessories that will be arriving. I may get Bodyguardz when it arrives. I may just install the one for the back and keep the front. I just got the capdase screen protector, seems like a waste to throw it out after just 2 weeks

I have the black capdase softframe case also, from Digital Walker Pods in Tri. It's slim and sleek and grippy, the only downside is the round hole at the back revealing the iPhone's Apple logo and making it vulnerable to scratches.

that switcheasy dont buy it, the back can be easily scratched even by just wiping, also when putting your phone be careful because the edge of this case will scratch the chrome part of the phone ... i have mine in black and regretting for buying, and it is quite expensive.. better get the ifrogz with two-tone deep red/black or deep blue black combi.. also get a silicon of very high quality not cheap one dust magnet..

ques: can I use a stylus to text in the iPhone? Having slight difficulty typing with my fingers.

This is the answer Globe has on their site

Use Your Fingertips
Do not use a standard stylus, pen, or other pointing device with the Multi-Touch display. The Multi-Touch display does not detect movement when you use these, and they could scratch or damage the Multi-Touch display.

Compared to iPods and iPhones with back metal, iPhone 3g won't get scratches that easily. Even the prints. I have no plans of putting a protector on the back.. I hope I'm right :)

i'm not a big fan of skins and cases, especially bulky ones--all my mac gear has gone "naked" and they're still very clean with minor scratches, if ever--but the iphone 3G's plastic back got me worried, so i got a contour flick protector for the back, and it looks and feels very good--thin, slick, almost the same material and feel as the iphone itself. very cleanly done, hardly adds any bulk.

i took the screen protector off my first-gen iphone when i realized that, as elbert says, it didn't really need one--that screen is as tough as anything (after many months in my pocket, the scree is still scratch-free)--and i don't intend to put one on this baby. i want my fingers touching glass directly.

as far as my researching goes it's that plastic back that's causing all the fuss, as it DOES scratch easily compared to the metal back that the 1st gen sported...that and the fact that the back is NOT FLAT allows the iphone to rock/spin on it's back giving way to even more unwanted scratches...there's just no contest as far as a comparison between the old 1st gen metal backs as compared tot he 3G plastic back

From what I've read, the back of the iPhone 3g is prone to scratches, in particular the scratches on the black iPhone is more clearly visible than scratches on the white iPhone 3g.

there's a separate capdase anti-glare screen protector being sold... so you can put this aside fr the magic glass. or in case you don't wanna use the magic glass.

for the hole in the back, if you also got soft frame the box comes with a round clear plastic for the logo. not sure if it's adhesive type... but it's supposed to be for the logo.

hmmm after reading about how the back of the iphone easily shows scratches and nicks, an invisible shield sounds like a good idea for additional protection.

I want to use my iPhone bare but that 'prone to scratches' issue did concern me so I'm using a case at the moment. Getting bodyguardz when Digital Walker starts selling them in 2 weeks time (I think)

Paging sir Charlie... couldn't send you a PM, anyways, is it possible to reserve a POWER SUPPORT AIR JACKET (clear) and be advised as soon as it's available? Bought a Contour hardskin already from your store in Trinoma, but am thinking of replacing it already as the air jacket seems really nice... also, would the Capdase touch screen film work ok with this (it seems Power Support is also selling their own version of the film - or is it part of air jacket package)? Appreciate it!

just bought a capdase screen protector at DW in virra...they sell 3 variants !!!
one is a privacy guard(i think people next to you cant see whats showing on your iphone because of the angle), the other is the usual screen protector, and the other is like the usual one BUT it does not take on finger prints and oil/grease as much. the privacy guard cost P950, the other 2 costs 450...got my self the fingerprint/grease resistant variant....
i noticed that this one makes the screen a little hazy or blurry or the screen is not as sharp compared to the normal screen guard type
what do you guys use?

if you just backtrack a bit, you'll find out that stocks are on the way.

The iPhone 3G is my fourth iPhone. After looking at the conditions of my precious iPhones, I'm going to keep this case on from day one (screen protector included),

The Air Jacket really is nice, and I'm one who dislikes cases on gadgets. I like to use my gadgets naked, the way it was designed to be used (heck, my car doesn't have seat covers even), but because this one is so thin, I don't mind.

i don't understand what's so special about this case. it looks like a cozip case with a screen protector.

it's a matter of personal preference.

for one thing, it's being air thin does not add bulk to the iphone and it is able to retain the "looks" of the iphone with its super curves and design. (Other cases would "significantly" change how the iphone looks from the outside because the cases themselves become the new shape of the iphone).

Like elbert and penmanila, I want my iphone "naked".

the air jacket website is quite honest in saying that it will not completely protect the unit from all scratches and abrasions, and hard collisions.

but i guess this case will be good enough to protect it from minor scratches, like when i put it on top of a table or a desk.

I am planning to partner this with another case, one that has a belt-clip, probably a leather case, where i can insert the iphone together with the air jacket, when i walk. (I don't like my iphone to be in my pocket or in my hand when i walk or stand for a long time.)

I'm not so sure what you are referring to but the case itself is a solid piece of work: a soft plastic innercase, and a hard plastic exoskeleton. The hard plastic is prone to scratching as all hard plastic cases are, but the soft plastic parts are not (and better the case instead of the phone). But i wouldn't call it flimsy.

I prefer a more "executive" looking housing, but this will do for now. :D

I have been using the Switcheasy Rebel case last August 21 when Globe Launches The iPhone 3G. Until now no scratches whatsoever. The inner layer is soft and protects the metal chrome part of the iPhone.

Alternative case for me when im not going to a delicate places. i Use this one.

I'm referring to the soft innercase just below the home button. When I saw the reviews on youtube, most of them complained that it doesn't fit right. Sometimes you can see the chrome or easily push it out of place.

Well, if you deliberately push it outward, it will get pushed outward--just like any soft plastic I suppose. But still I wouldn't characterize it as flimsy. In normal usage, it doesn't open up.

Flimsy for me is the Capdase Soft Frame Case. Now that case gets easily dislodged (everywhere and not just at the bottom) revealing the chrome and more, even when I'm just pulling it out of my pocket. I actually like this case because it's slim and doesn't add bulk to the case, but its flimsy nature made me buy the Rebel Case.

Aside from the blue Griffin Wave case, my Switcheasy black Capsule Rebel just arrived yesterday. Also ordered the Protection Pack from Full Body Films, hope it arrives soon.

A regular sealed letter envelope arrived from FullBodyFilms yesterday. Briefly convinced the wifey that it was a job offer from a sleazy film company in NY :)

Anyway, like most clear, film body protectors in the market today, the FullBodyFilms Protection Pack for iPhone 3G requires tricky installation (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/fullbodyfilms-protection-pack-for-iphone-3g/). One has to weigh wether the effort of applying film to enjoy an almost bare protection is worth it since it also add some caveats of its own. While the Protection Pack was perfectly aligned from the camera down to the dock connector and across the mute switch, lint will adhere to it while you are applying it. I used a strong emergency LED light and a rocket blower but dust will find its way inside. And due to the nature of the curved surface of the iPhone, the film in that area will tend to bubble. I have trapped dirt and some small bubbly corners that looked less than ideal.

With much patience, I might try to redo it tonight with a 3M lint remover or remove it entirely. While I try to find a more ideal film protector, this iPhone is going back in the Wave case which so far is the best hard case I've used.

"I tell you again if your the type that leaves you phone in the case after install... go for it, its a nice case, but if your anything like me where you apply and reapply a couple times a week.... Stay away or just be careful. with the install."

In Carlos' own words "It's a pain the the [censored] to put on"

i'm not a big fan of skins and cases, especially bulky ones--all my mac gear has gone "naked" and they're still very clean with minor scratches, if ever--but the iphone 3G's plastic back got me worried, so i got a contour flick protector for the back, and it looks and feels very good--thin, slick, almost the same material and feel as the iphone itself. very cleanly done, hardly adds any bulk.

i took the screen protector off my first-gen iphone when i realized that, as elbert says, it didn't really need one--that screen is as tough as anything (after many months in my pocket, the scree is still scratch-free)--and i don't intend to put one on this baby. i want my fingers touching glass directly.

I have this case too. the only problem with it is the open part at the bottom and the part where you cover it. it scratches the silver part. :(

Its website says its $34.95 (P1,630.59), expect it to be a more expensive than that if you're planning to buy here. Don't know by how much though.

I might still buy BodyGuardz though if the iPhone still fits in the Air Jacket even with it on

As I posted earlier I really like this case but I found that the cover part could indeed scratch the chrome part so what I did was to have my phone gmasked then put on this case. Seems there is no scratching now, will observe and give feedback. I tried the silicon case but I just could not get used to all the dust and lint particles it accumulates.

Now it's all dirty and yucky. I'm now looking into pouch alternative. Gonna take the back shield off. I will retain the front since it's ok. The Invisbleshield is also dust magnet maybe it has to do with static thingy.
